Premiere: Kadija Kamara – ‘Like You’

Having received accolades such as MTV Iggy Artist Of The Week and praise from the likes of PRS for Music and Tom Robinson, London artist Kadija Kamara has previously provided backing vocals for Zara McFarlane on Later… with Jools Holland, and is now set to release a brand new EP.

Taken from the EP, ‘Like You’ is an utterly dreamy sonic delight. As sweeping strings and choral harmonies provide the backdrop to Kamara’s magnificent, soulful vocals, it oozes a twinkling, emotion-strewn splendour that’ll tug at the heartstrings in all the right ways. Reflecting on themes of selfhood and vulnerability, ‘Like You’ graces our ears with its swooping, ethereal soundscape and delicate romanticism, standing out as an exquisite piece of songwriting.

Listen to ‘Like You’, for the first time, here:

As well as writing truly beautiful songs, Kadija is also a woman after our own hearts; she curates a night called ‘Lady’, showcasing female musicians in the underground and commercial scenes, with regular nights at The Finsbury. Definitely worth checking out!

Nothing Left To Lose, the new EP from Kadija Kamara, is out tomorrow 9th February.

Get In Her Ears live @ The Finsbury w/ Temples Of Youth, 08.12.17

Following a host of super amazing bands playing for us over the last year – including The Magnettes, H.Grimace, REWS, Trash Kit, Kid Cupid and Deux Furieuses – we were back at The Finsbury last Friday for our monthly dose of incredible live music.

Kicking off the night is Dorset’s The Gravity Drive with their swirling, emotionally rich effervescent pop.

Second band of the night HMS Morris have travelled from Cardiff to blow us all away with the totally dreamy and impressively eclectic sounds of their playful, psychedelic offerings.

Returning to The Finsbury to play for us for a second time, headliners Temples Of Youth cast their hypnotic spell with their unique brand of sparkling, musically rich neo-pop. Oozing their impossibly cool swathe and majestic, emotion strewn splendour, the Winchester duo succeed in completely captivating us all once again.

Huge thanks to the three magnificent bands who played for us on Friday. And make sure you all join us back at The Finsbury to see in the new year in style on 12th January 2018 with Witch Fever, The Nyx, ARXX and more!

Get In Her Ears Live at The Finsbury w/ The Magnettes, 10.11.17

Following a host of super amazing bands playing for us over the last year – including H.Grimace, REWS, Trash Kit, The Empty Page, Kid Cupid and Deux Furieuses – we were back at The Finsbury last Friday for our monthly dose of incredible live music.

Kicking off the night is the utterly captivating, and truly dreamy, sounds of Carolyn’s Fingers. With their haunting, ethereal splendour, they cast a spell over us all in an instant.

Next up we’re privileged to host DIDI with her first full band show. Oozing all the energy-fuelled, empowering vibes and punk-pop joy, it’s a truly uplifting set – and hopefully the first of many that this collective have to offer.

Having travelled down from Birmingham to play for us, penultimate artist of the night MeMe Detroit delivers all the reverb-strewn riffs and gritty, soulful vocals you could ever desire. With a unique sonic force, and an incredible rousing magnetism, she delivers a wonderfully raucous set.

Drawing the night to a close is something we’ve been extremely excited about: we’re honoured that The Magnettes have travelled all the way from Sweden for Get In Her Ears! Set on crushing the patriarchy with their own unique brand of ‘fuck-pop’, the trio succeed in completely blowing us away. Steeped in a Riot Grrrl-inspired passion, with added sparkly pop sensibilities, donning their matching ‘Psycho Witch’ cheer-leading outfits, front-women Rebecka and Sanna treat us to something truly memorable and a little bit spooky; with fun-filled energy and empowering force in equal measure, it’s the perfect end to the night.

Huge thanks to the four bands who played for us! And don’t miss our next night at The Finsbury on 8th December, when we’ll have Temples Of Youth, Chorusgirl, HMS Morris and The Gravity Drive – another unmissable lineup!
