Track Of The Day: Partner – ‘Everybody Knows’

Following the success of their debut album last year, Canadian duo Josée Caron and Lucy Niles – aka Partner – have now shared a brand new video for lead single ‘Everybody Knows’.

A whirring slice of uptempo garage rock, ‘Everybody Knows’ tells of the paranoia following one too many bong hits. Filled with a jangly guitar fuzz and delightful, sparkling harmonies, it gives a nostalgic nod to ’90s punk-pop whilst maintaining its own refreshing wit and sunny energy. Complete with impressive, racing licks, it’s a wonderfully infectious offering that’ll leave you longing for another hit of Partner’s playful, uplifting sounds.

Directed by Colin Medley, the video takes us through the dilemma of having to navigate the supermarket while high as a kite.

In Search Of Lost Time, the debut album from Partner, is out now via You’ve Changed Records.

Track Of The Day: Worst Place – ‘Rush Hour’

Having previously wowed us with their effervescent charm at The Finsbury, and received acclaim from the likes of BBC 6 Music and Amazing Radio for their debut ‘Dreamer’, Worst Place are back with another sparkling new single.

A cover of Jane Wiedlin’s ’80s hit, Worst Place’s take on ‘Rush Hour’ is filled with the jangly whirr of guitars alongside luscious honey-sweet vocals and a shimmering grace. A truly dreamy slice of infectious indie pop, with shades of the sunny joy of Best Coast or Alvvays, this beautiful cover leaves us more in love with this East London band than ever before, and we cannot wait to hear more.

WATCH: Tokyo Taboo – ‘Papercut’

Following last year’s riotous album 6th Street Psychosis, London duo Tokyo Taboo are back with a seething new single.

Racing with a frenzied energy, ‘Papercut’ is a politically charged, in-your-face blast of ferocious punk-pop with shades of the likes of GIHE faves Deap Vally. Complete with front-woman Dolly Daggerz’ powerful snarling vocals and raging raucous riffs, the track is accompanied by a tongue-in-cheek video depicting a group of apathetic 20-somethings participating in an experiment run by evil scientists.

Track Of The Day: Tango With The Lions – ‘What You’ve Become’

Fronted by vocalist Katerina Papachristou, Greek band Tango With Lions are best known for their dreamy, melodic tracks that linger in the memory long after they’ve finished spinning. The group have returned after a five year absence with new album, The Light, released via Inner Ear Records earlier this month. Their second single ‘What You’ve Become’ is taken from the record and it’s a shimmering, laid back delight.

Speaking about Tango With The Lion’s new album, Katerina explains:
“The Light depicts my wobble between light and darkness for an extended period of time. Dealing with grief and suffering from blackouts, my only thought was to cling to music in order to sort things out and reach the light again. I consider this album as a vivid impression of all the ups and downs I went through while creating it: exaggerated hope, sarcasm, nihilism, nostalgia, love, broken relationships, death and life, all blended together with the sole vision to feel whole again.”
