PLAYLIST: August 2026

The Get In Her Ears team have put together another marvellous mix of new music for your listening pleasure! Our August Playlist features plenty of eclectic alt-pop tunes, DIY punk anthems, alternative riffs, indie & alt-folk musings, as well as some experimental and electronic sounds. We’ve also included some tributes to the late Dolly Parton and L7 bassist Jennifer Finch. Make sure you scroll through and read all about our recommendations below.

In order to best support the female, LGBTQIA+ and non-binary artists that we love here at GIHE, we’ve moved away from using Spotify. We now have an account on TIDAL, so please follow us on there. We’ve also included YouTube or bandcamp links for all of the tracks below, so there’s plenty of ways for you to get your new music fix.

Dolly Parton – ‘Coat Of Many Colours’
Like probably everyone who follows us, I was heartbroken to hear the news of Queen Dolly passing away this week. Although it may seem odd to grieve someone you never knew personally, I think it was easy to feel a connection with Dolly and a resonance to her radiant infectious joy and spirit. She really was such a huge inspiration – not only an incredible songwriter, performer and iconic woman until the very end – but such a wonderful advocate and supporter of marginalised communities. She was also the perfect example of how you don’t have to give birth to a child to be a mother figure. She cared for and actively helped so many children and young people throughout her life. I feel incredibly lucky and honoured to have seen her live at Glastonbury in 2014, a completely joyous experience and life highlight that I don’t think I’ll ever forget. She performed with such a playful energy and sweetness and her cheeky humour and incredible talent shone throughout, especially when she played the Benny Hill theme song on her mini saxophone!.

Aether Speaker – ‘Golden Hour’
A gorgeous piece of indie electro-pop here from London-based band Aether Speaker. ‘Golden Hour’ is full of front-person Yel’s soft, breathy vocals, underscored by hazy synths and gentle beats. The band explain that their psychedelic new offering is “poised between one world and the next, between soothing words and the truth” – delighting in ambiguity and lingering in the romantic ether. Squirrel Flower – ‘Cleveland’
A beautiful ode to its namesake and the comfort of domesticity, ‘Cleveland’ is the latest single from Chicago based artist Ella Williams, aka Squirrel Flower. A song originally written with her her family band (the brilliantly named ‘uncommon rat’), it oozes a twinkling sentimentality and sense of nostalgia as Williams’ rich distinctive vocals flow, creating a heartfelt slice of Americana. Say A Prayer To The Gods Of Getting Going, the new album from Squirrel Flower, is out now via Polyvinyl Record Co. (ML)

Grandmas House – ‘Dance’
Congratulations to long-time GIHE faves Grandmas House on the release of their debut album! The Bristol band’s LP Baby You’re A Winner, released via Brace Yourself Records, is a superb amalgamation of their skill for writing urgent, cathartic anthems which reflect both the “light and dark” of the times that we live in. This track ‘Dance’ encapsulates that theme deftly, with Yasmin Berndt’s uniquely raspy vocals leading the charge as the band urge listeners to dance the pain away. (KC)

GRAVE GOODS – ‘Grit’
Based between Manchester and Dublin, experimental duo GRAVE GOODS create distinctive, primal sounds that examine the grind of modern existence. On this track ‘Grit’, Lois Macdonald (Guitar/vocals) and Sarah Grimes (drums/vocals) reflect on the the “existential disgust” that comes from separating the animalistic parts of ourselves in order to fit in with societal expectations. It’s a fascinating concoction of spoken-word-style vocals, contrasting beats and quirky riffs. The track also features the eponymous lyric of GRAVE GOODS’ upcoming album, Reality, Swallow Me., which was written and recorded to analogue tape at Analogue Catalogue Studios, with engineer and producer Julie McLarnon (Brighde Chaimbeul, The Altered Hours, Lankum). The LP is due for release on 25th September via bandcamp. (KC)

Trusselina – ‘Gastro’ / ‘Trusselina Archimboldi’
Philadelphia-based duo Trusselina are a new experimental pop project, formed of Mikaela Oppenheimer (Hello Mary) and Hayden McGarvey (Bleary Eyed). Together, they create jagged, intriguing soundscapes that blend acoustic and electronic elements, incorporating their love of ground-breaking literature, collaboration, and even their experience of food poisoning – which their double single release confidently covers. ‘Trusselina Archimboldi’ is inspired by a passage from Djuna Barnes’ acclaimed 1930s novel Nightwood, which is considered a prominent piece of early lesbian literature. The beat for ‘Gastro’ was concocted when Hayden was in the midst of an episode of food poisoning whilst on tour in France. I’m enjoying the eclectic nature of Trusselina’s sound and look forward to hearing more from the duo soon. (KC)

Emma Ruth Rundle – ‘Enough’
Another deeply emotive, powerful single from multi-instrumentalist Emma Ruth Rundle here. Inspired by both ‘The Man Who Sold The World’ and the story of Elijah – in which Emma explains she “imagines [Elijah] as an Elon Musk type figure” – ‘Enough’ is an epic reflection on modern wealth, greed, and a poetic cry for us to rise up against the powers that continue to benefit from this inequality. ‘Enough’ features on her upcoming sixth album, These Killing Times, which is set for release on 18th September via her own imprint Errant Child. Tanzana – ‘Without A Sound’
Having been a big fan of Glasgow’s Tanzana since being spellbound by the soaring energy of last year’s ‘Covet’, I’m excited to hear that they’ll be releasing their debut EP in October. Ahead of the EP, they’ve now shared a powerful new single. Rippling with a dark majestic splendour and building with a fierce impassioned energy, ‘Without A Sound’ offers a reflection on the cathartic process of making art, as well as the frustration that can be felt when we reach our limit. An insight into the captivating and poignant genre-defying soundscapes the band are able to create. Etched In, the debut EP from Tanzana, is out on 9th October via SO Recordings & Hideous Mink Records. (ML)

Desperate Journalist – ‘Terrible Years’
Having just announced that their sixth album will be released in November, longtime favourites Desperate Journalist have now shared its lead single. Propelled by a gritty force and front woman Jo Bevan’s impassioned vocals, ‘Terrible Years’ offers a fierce post-punk anthem. Lyrically told from the perspective of someone in denial about how much they miss the excitement of youth, it captures the band’s ability to fuse a ‘90s-tinged hooks with a fresh raging energy that is distinctly their own. Gilding The Lily, the upcoming album from Desperate Journalist, is out on 20th November via Fierce Panda Records. (ML)

Rose Fatale – ‘Hole In The Head’
Belfast punks Rose Fatale embrace their softer, sapphic side on their latest single ‘Hole In The Head’. Leaning into alt-rock sensibilities, they blend impassioned vocals, earnest lyrics and driving riffs to create a melancholic whirl of noise. The band recently performed on Belfast Pride’s City Hall stage and are planning to play more gigs soon. (KC)

Team Dresch – ‘Growing Underground’
When queercore legends Team Dresch announced their return a couple of months ago, I was beyond excited, having been a mega fan since first hearing them when I was at uni 20 years ago. Now, ahead of their new album, Furthermore, which is set for release on 18th September, they’ve shared a powerful new anthem; a fierce call to action to resist the hegemonic, hateful systems which continue to oppress marginalised voices, its driving riotous energy celebrates collective, intersectional values and offers a defiant sense of unity and a hope that a brighter future is possible: “The song imagines shared communities becoming the very thing that nurtures future life. Love is embodied through chosen families, interconnected communities, and the networks that have always sustained one another.” I never thought I’d get to see Team Dresch live, and so I can’t wait to finally catch them downstairs at The Dome on 30th September. They had to move to a bigger venue than The Lexington due to high demand! (ML)

Tender Claws – ‘Tear Him To Pieces’
Having just released her debut EP, Belfast born Tess Corr aka Tender Claws creates haunting, immersive goth-inspired soundscapes, driven by a fiercely dark energy. The EP’s title track, ‘Tear Him To Pieces’, showcases her rich ethereal allure as rich, impassioned vocals soar over swirling expansive hooks. (ML)

Eilis Frawley – ‘Guilt’
We love all of the musical endeavours that drummer and songwriter Eilis Frawley undertakes here at GIHE, and we’re excited that she’s back releasing new music. This track ‘Guilt’ is the first offering from her upcoming second album, and it’s an apt reflection on the frightening and polarising times we’re living in. Led by her distinctive spoken-word vocals and gritty beats, ‘Guilt’ is an urgent reminder to engage with the world in a meaningful way and not to be desensitized by the carefully curated algorithms on our social media accounts. Eilis explains the track’s context further: “I have my own guilt, you open Instagram, in one moment you can witness a child being blown to pieces, and then the next minute someone’s trying to sell you an over priced bag or tell you how to optimise your life. I find the western world’s response petrifying to what’s happening in Gaza, and Lebanon, and Sudan, and the Congo. No reason will make a good enough reason for the amount of civilians killed, and traumatised”. (KC)

GOOD GRIEF – ‘Lucy’
Following on from their feisty debut single ‘Bait Shop’, Seattle-based duo GOOD GRIEF are back with this tender ode to unrequited love during queer adolescence. ‘Lucy’ is a track that “sparkles with curiosity – but not naivete,” reflecting on the poignancy of budding queer romantic feelings whilst softly reminding listeners of their beauty and validity. Inspired by grief, rage and love, GOOD GRIEF are currently working on their debut album, the aptly titled Not Over It, so keep your eyes peeled for more info about that in the near future! (KC)

Railcard – ‘Flanelette’
Consisting of current members of Heavenly and ex-members of Dolly Mixture and Death In Vegas, I’d definitely class Railcard as an indie-pop supergroup – and their new single is pretty super too. Showcasing their swooning honey-sweet vocals and lilting uplifting melodies perfectly, ‘Flanelette’ is taken from their upcoming debut album, Two Steps At A Time, which is set for release on 18th September via Skep Wax Records. (ML)

R Loomes – ‘The Self Demands a Reckoning’
A hypnotic offering from Sheffield-based musician R Loomes here. ‘The Self Demands a Reckoning’ is a potent piece of doom-folk that she describes as “a sort of personal prayer”, in which she attempts to sever the link between mind and body and “navigate the world [as a] free spirit.” As with her previous single ‘Passerine’, the track blends her beguiling vocals and richly atmospheric riffs to create a determined and fluid sound. ‘The Self Demands a Reckoning’ is taken from R Loomes upcoming debut album, Another Sip of the Divine Specific, which is set for release on 30th September. Clara Mann – ‘News From Home’
A truly spellbinding soundscape, ‘News From Home’ is the new single from London based multi-disciplinary artist Clara Mann. Taken from her upcoming, literary-inspired, album Wishbone, it offers an immersive expansive musicality alongside the sparkling emotion of her resonant vocals as she reflects on how our feelings towards where we’re from can change and develop over time. Wishbone is out on 23rd October via state51. (ML)

YELF. – ‘flesh’
‘flesh’ is the second offering from London-based, British-Swedish artist YELF., who I am a big fan of. It’s a sultry reflection on lust and longing, inspired by the ebb and flow of the ocean. It’s a “neo-psychedelic ode to desire, fantasy and the brain-body connection,” as YELF. explains, underscored by her yearning vocals, immersive electronics and poetic lyricism. ‘flesh’ was also produced and mixed in Brighton (literally by the sea!) by Michael Baker and includes harp played by Fior Anderson and even the tinkling sound of glasses from Baker’s kitchen cupboards too. Selkie – ‘Lick The Sun’
Today (28th July), Glasgow-based songwriter and producer Selkie has shared her debut EP, inWaves, which this single ‘Lick The Sun’ features on. Full of her tender vocals and considered instrumentation, she has created an atmospheric collection of tracks that beautifully melt into each other. She’ll be celebrating her debut release with a small UK tour in October and a showcase performance at Aberdeen Music Week too. (KC)

Marina Yozora – ‘Snow Heat’ (Acoustic)
We’re big fans of Japanese-born, London-based songwriter Marina Yozora here at GIHE, and we love how she’s continuing to share different evolutions of her poignant track ‘Snow Heat’. It’s a poetic rumination on a brief connection with someone that now exists only in Marina’s mind, and to honour the intensity of this fleeting moment, Marina released a lyric video to accompany the original single, and now she has shared a beautiful acoustic version of the track too. She also plans to reveal the official video for ‘Snow Heat’ on the one year anniversary of the track’s release, which we are eagerly anticipating. (KC)

Mother Church – ‘Wait To Kiss Me Until Heaven’
An unlikely collaboration between a founding member of HMLTD and an ordained priest, Mother Church create their own unique brand of alternative folk, drawing on an eclectic range of literary and theological influences. A stirring reflection on the pleasures and contradictions of virtue and temptation, ‘Wait To Kiss Me Until Heaven’ oozes a captivating mystical allure alongside its lilting folk-strewn musicality. Yolk, the debut album from Mother Church, is set for release in November via Trapped Animal Records. The band will be playing a special release show at St Pancras Old Church on 13th November. (ML)

BERTY – ‘Take For Granted’
Inspired by the power of unconditional love in our meaningful relationships, songwriter and producer BERTY penned this track ‘Take For Granted’. It’s an earnest refection on the Forest of Dean-based artist’s feelings about human connection, showcasing her intuitive nature as a songwriter. BERTY is currently working on a new EP, which she is set to release in the near future. (KC)

Brennan Wedl – ‘High Priestess’
Having just released her self-titled new album, Nashville based artist Brennan Wedl has been a favourite of mine for a couple of years now. I’m a big fan of her wonderfully self-labelled “grungetry” sound (a perfect fusion of grunge and country, in case you were wondering!) and raw Sheryl Crow-reminiscent vocals. The final single to be taken from the album, ‘High Priestess’ reflects on the otherworldly intuition of the tarot card and the thoughts and feelings that can swirl around our heads when trying to face reality head on.(ML)

The Genes – ‘Charlotte’
I first became a fan of awesome Coventry band The Genes after seeing them at Decolonise Festival in 2025, and then loved having them play for us supporting WIDGET earlier this year. Now, they’ve released their first proper single and it’s pretty great. Self-described as a “high energy punk anthem with a uniquely British story”, ‘Charlotte’ is a love letter to the Ford Transit. Inspired by years of DIY touring, late-night motorway drives and the vans that somehow survive gig after gig, the song celebrates the unsung hero that’s carried countless independent bands across the UK. I love the track’s playful tongue-in-cheek energy and scuzzy hooks and can’t wait to hear more from this unique band. (ML)

L7 – ‘Shitlist’
Another incredibly inspirational woman that we tragically lost earlier this month was Jennifer Finch, the bassist from legendary grunge-punk band L7. At just the age of 59, it seems extremely unfair that she should be gone already. Anyone who’s ever been to a GIHE gig is probably aware of how much we love L7, as I include either ‘Shitlist’ or ‘Wargasm’ on most of our pre-band playlists – their tunes have never failed to energise and motivate me, and seem like the perfect way to get people psyched up for the amazing bands who play for us. I was lucky enough to see L7 live in Camden in 2015 for their first UK gig since initially breaking up in 2001, and I remember being utterly blown away by Finch’s immense fierce energy and presence and the way her swirling life-force and booming hooks reverberated into the crowd. Bugeye – ‘This Is What I Want’
Following the release of their recent second album, The Shape Of Things, and support slots with big names such as The Datsuns and Loose Articles, longtime faves Bugeye have now shared an empowering new single. Offering a middle finger to the outdated expectations of women that still prevail within society, ‘This Is What I Want’ oozes a sultry playful allure and danceable groove-laden hooks whilst raging against the “toxic manosphere”. Of the track, front woman Angela Martin says that it’s dedicated to “every woman who’s ever been told to know her place. Here’s the truth: your place is wherever you choose to stand. Stand tall, stand loud, and never apologise for demanding the respect you’ve always deserved.” (ML)

Four Degrees Colder – ‘Reminisce’
‘Reminisce’ is the opening track from Four Degrees Colder’s debut album, Nothing To Do. Released in July, the St. Louis-based alternative pop-rock duo take their listeners on a captivating, track-by-track journey through a decaying factory overtaken by artificial intelligence. Propelled by their clear vocals, driving riffs and electronic textures, the pair aim to inspire a sense of hope and persistence throughout their LP, ultimately refusing to succumb to the “the fear of becoming obsolete.” (KC)

Tiiva – ‘I Keep Falling In Love’
We’re big fans of producer and sound & game designer Tiiva here at GIHE, so I’m chuffed to see they’re back with a new single and a new record. ‘I Keep Falling In Love’ is lifted from the Lake District alt-pop artist’s upcoming album, This Could Be A Start, which is set for release on 25th September. It’s a euphoric swirl of buoyant electronics, floaty vocals and glitchy beats. “The story throughout the album is how we as humans navigate love, neurodivergence, AI interactions, and our desire to be everywhere all at once; in the mountains, in the city,” Tiiva explains. “Each song represents an internal character – the optimist, the party kid, the recovering addict, the loner, the nostalgic. Some of the songs could read as romantic but in reality we are all looking for connection, and we find it in not always the most obvious places.” Tiiva will be celebrating the release of their new LP with an immersive headline show at Spanners in South London on 30th September. Sidney Packard – ‘Acer Tree’
Non-binary, alt-pop artist Sidney Packard envelops their listeners in dark atmospheric electronics and soft vocals on their latest single, ‘Acer Tree’. The London-based musician penned the track as an ode to the plant they really adore, which are more commonly known as Japanese Maple trees and are known for their distinctive leaf shape and red foliage.
Sidney will be playing a gig in London – which coincides with their birthday! – on Saturday 12th September at The Phoenix. (KC)

Maria Uzor – ‘Cyclops’
We’re super excited that GIHE mega fave Maria Uzor will be releasing her second album, Fantasyland, on 3rd September. Showcasing Uzor’s unique ability to seemingly effortlessly fuse together genres ranging from grunge to techno, the album explores notions of escapism in a world that appears increasingly unpredictable. Taken from the album, recent single ‘Cyclops’ pulsates with immense glitchy beats as the seductive power of Uzor’s vocals takes hold, and an immersive dub-inspired energy propels you onto the dancefloor. Keep your eyes peeled for a special interview with Maria on the website over the next couple of weeks. (ML)

NAMELESS TWIN – ‘Neon Machine Gun’
I love everything about this haunting new single from industrial-electronic duo Alicia Rei Kim (Dokoe) and Ryan Osterman (Holy Fawn) aka NAMELESS TWIN. They’ve only released a handful of tracks to date, but all of them have been a perfect blend of their dramatic volume shifts and dark, dreamy electronics. ‘Neon Machine Gun’ is their first new release since 2023, but I hope they’ll be sharing more of their ominous sounds in the near future. Ladybug 2 (The Bug, Friday Night Plans) – ‘Miss U’
Under the moniker of Ladybug, UK-based producer The Bug has launched a new collaborative series via his own imprint PRESSURE. The project sees him work alongside different female vocalists to explore new sonic territory, and this track features the voice of one of his personal favourites: Japanese songwriter Friday Night Plans. ‘Miss U’ is another heady, cell-tingling offering from the eclectic collaborators, and if you can’t get enough of the original, the duo have also shared five accompanying “alternate” versions that you can sink your teeth into, available on bandcamp now. Missperception – ‘Into The Glitch’
By combining her love of electronic music, jazz elements and cinematic soundscapes, Yorkshire-based independent artist Missperception creates an infectiously glitchy atmosphere with her music. This aptly titles track ‘Into The Glitch’ is lifted from her recent EP, Static Symphony, which she says is formed of “Four rooms…four transmissions…a signal from the edge, where melody frays into static.” (KC)

ARXX – ‘Trouble’
The latest single from biggest faves, Brighton duo ARXX, ‘Trouble’ showcases a bit of a grittier electronic side to the duo than we may be used to. Reflecting on the mixed feelings that follow a break-up, the track oozes a Peaches-esque bass-heavy seductive allure as it builds to a soaring, anthemic pop anthem. It’s wonderful to see Hanni and Clara experimenting with their sound and flexing their creative muscles so beautifully; whatever they create, whatever its genre or influences, ends up being an instantly addictive hit without fail, and leaves me filled with excitement about what they might do next. Following an incredible summer, wowing festival crowds across the country – including their first time at Glasto – ARXX will be releasing their second album on 4th October and playing a headline tour across the UK and Europe to celebrate. We can’t wait!

Circe – ‘Heaven’s The Other Way’
Following on from her bittersweet single ‘Blue Love’, this is the latest creation from dark-pop artist Circe. She captures a moment of intense loneliness on ‘Heaven’s The Other Way’ via her poetic lyrics, seraphic vocals and glistening electronics. Circe performed this track during her set supporting The Midnight at Camden’s Electric Ballroom back in July and it sounded just as rapturous in the flesh. Read the full review of her show here.

Tiiva – ‘Golden’
Electronic artist, producer & GIHE fave Tiiva is back with this shimmering new single. Full of their lush vocals, lilting synths and evocative beats, ‘Golden’ explores the mixed emotions that come when you’re persevering through an uncertain time. Of the track, Tiiva explains: “‘Golden’ is about holding on when things feel like a lot, a conversation between two voices kindness and feeling overwhelmed and rebuilding.” (KC)

Ideal Host – ‘Dust Collector’
Created during a four day residency in a converted water mill in Llangollen in Wales, this is the latest single from indie band Ideal Host. ‘Dust Collector’ is their poppiest offering to date and I love the way Heather’s soft vocals blend seamlessly with buoyant riffs, lilting electronics and catchy beats. Lazy Day – ‘Concrete’
Set to release their debut album in November, London based artist Tilly Scantlebury – aka Lazy Day – has now shared shimmering new single ‘Concrete’. Rippling with a stirring twinkling emotion, the track’s somewhat disjointed structure and fluctuating musical layers reflect the poignant sentiment of its lyrics: “Concrete was a helpful metaphor… It’s strong and sturdy, as well as being extremely heavy. It was a useful framework for thinking about relationships which felt stable, but at the same time weighed me down.” Open The Door, the debut album from Lazy Day, is set for release on 8th November via Brace Yourself Records. Cuushe – ‘Faded Corners’
A euphoric slice of ambient dream-pop, ‘Faded Corners’ is the latest single from Japanese artist Cuushe. Glistening with a spellbinding delicate splendour, a beautiful lullaby is created; set to soothe even the most anxious of minds as the summer comes to an end. (ML)

Grand Pax – ‘MB BB’
The latest single from London based queer artist Grand Pax, ‘MB BB’ flows with glitchy beats and dreamy synths as the sparkling splendour of her vocals soar. A blissful soundscape reflecting on the emotions following a break-up, she says of the track that it’s “about wanting to hold onto something but knowing it’s not possible. It’s the process of it leaving your body, but acknowledging it as you let it go.” Crush, the new EP from Grand Pax, is out now. (ML)

Yellow Belly – ‘Crux’
This atmospheric track by Australian-born, Cardiff based experimental musician Yellow Belly is taken from her recent album, Ghostwriter. The record is a hypnotic reflection on a difficult time for the artist, explored through her shape-shifting electronica, melancholic lyrics and hushed vocals. (KC)

Chelsea Wolfe – ‘Tunnel Lights’ (††† Remix)
The original version of this Chelsea Wolfe track – taken from her excellent seventh album, She Reaches Out To She Reaches Out To She – was already a shape-shifting, shadowy offering, but this treatment by ††† (Crosses), featuring Chino Moreno’s distinctive vocals and Shaun Lopez’s industrial beats, is equally as intense. It’s lifted from her remix EP, UNDONE, which is out now via Loma Vista. (KC)

Birthday Problem ft. HAVVK – ‘Same Face’
I have been consistently impressed by everything that Irish collaborative electronica project Birthday Problem have released this year. Formed of Matt Harris and Rocky O’Reilly, ‘Same Face’ is their fifth single, featuring vocals from GIHE fave Julie Hawk (HAVVK). Haunting synths, layered vocals and sparse beats all combine to create another disarming and unusual listen from this eclectic pair. (KC)

Nina Eba – ’13’
I love this track by Ukrainian-born, Austrian-based producer & songwriter Nina Eba, which is taken from her self-released debut album, MORPHO. Inspired by the metamorphosis of the morpho butterfly, the record reflects on Nina’s experiences to self-acceptance and unrequited love. Nina’s sound is reminiscent of FKA Twigs, Bjork and Sevdaliza. Lollise – ‘Iron Woman’
Brooklyn via Botswana Afro-Futuristic artist Lollise tackles an important issue on her zealous single ‘Iron Woman’, which is taken from her upcoming album, I hit the water, set for release on 6th September. Through her intense electronics, driving beats and direct lyricism, she explores the plight of black women who suffer from severe fibroids who are often overlooked by the US health care system. Lollise explains the context of ‘Iron Woman’ further: “Most of my black friends with uteruses have had hysterectomies or undergone multiple myomectomies. In this song I talk about my experiences dealing with fibroids and menorrhagia going in and out of various emergency and hospital rooms. “Phallic science” talks about male dominance in science and how much money is allocated to studying men’s virility and very little is dedicated to women’s health and black women’s health specifically.” Watch the track’s accompanying video here. Midwife – ‘Vanessa’
On this slow-burning, atmospheric track, Colorado based musician and producer Midwife personifies and pays tribute to her old tour van ‘Vanessa’. Lifted from her upcoming album, No Depression in Heaven, which is set for release on 6th September via The Flenser, it’s another disarming piece of her blissful ambient shoegaze. I can’t wait to hear the record in full. (KC)

Tanukichan ft. Wisp – ‘It Gets Easier’
I’m new to California based artist Tanukichan, but when I saw that she had collaborated with shoegaze star Wisp, I instantly became a fan. ‘It Gets Easier’ is a dreamy blend of their lush vocals, swirling riffs and their driving beats. The track is featured on Tanukichan’s upcoming EP, Circles, which is set for release on 20th September. (KC)

the IV – ‘Same Old Story’
This brooding new anthem from elusive band the IV dropped into my inbox earlier this month. Created by vocalist and drummer Ingvild Nærum, ‘Same Old Story’ reflects on our role as consumers of culture through the lens of Freud’s dream-work theory. The rumbling bass lines, atmospheric riffs and staccato drumming make for captivating listening. (KC)

Hello Mary – ‘Down My Life’
New York trio Hello Mary continue to impress me with each single they share from their upcoming second album, Emita Ox. Set for release on 13th September, the record showcases their ability to blend their quiet-to-loud vocals, grungy riffs, considered instrumentation, and bruising beats perfectly. The band will be making their London live debut at The Shacklewell Arms in Dalston on 4th September and they’ll be playing at The Windmill in Brixton on 5th September too. I’ll be there on the 5th to hear ‘Down My Life’ in the flesh. (KC)

Girl Gordon – ‘The Need’
I love the gritty, reverb-heavy intro to this sardonic anthem by Cincinnati-based DIY indie punks Girl Gordon. ‘The Need’ is taken from their recent EP, Corruptor, and it “speaks to the pressures of societal beauty standards” that are often perpetuated by social media. (KC)

Scrunchies – ‘Generator’
The latest single from Minneapolis based Scrunchies, ‘Generator’ blasts into the ears with its raw punk energy. New favourites for sure, I can’t get enough of this new riot grrrl-inspired band’s scuzzy hooks and fierce empowering allure. ‘Generator’ is taken from Scunchies’ new album Colossal, one of the last albums that the legendary Steve Albini recorded and mixed. It’s also accompanied by a fantastically fun music video, created in collaboration with Los Angeles-based “dance aerobics celebration” Pony Sweat – watch it here. (ML)

Rottweiler – ‘Sarah’
This slow-burning single from Brighton rockers Rottweiler showcases their ability to balance atmospheric riffs with powerful vocals and crashing percussion. Inspired by the likes of Jeff Beck, Smashing Pumpkins and Paramore, ‘Sarah’ is a swirling cacophony of angst-ridden noise. (KC)

Queen Cult – ‘To Be A Boy’
Having released their new EP Be Better earlier this month, our favourite Macclesfield trio, Queen Cult have been wowing us for a couple of years now with their fierce raging energy and captivating charisma. Taken from the EP, ‘To Be A Boy’ showcases all their is to love about Maisie and co; propelled by the immense gritty power of her vocals, it explores themes of gender dysphoria and expectations of AFAB people growing up in a small town with a stirring honesty and raw emotion. A band on the rise, and for good reason, we can’t wait to see what Queen Cult have in store for us next. (ML) 

Berries – ‘Watching Wax’
The latest single from long time faves Berries, ‘Watching Wax’ offers our first taste of the London-Brighton band’s new material ahead of the release of a new album, set for release in October. With the distinctive twang of the band’s trademark scuzzy riffs and front person Holly’s lush syrupy vocals, I just can’t get enough of its racing fierce energy and gritty allure. (ML)

Um, Jennifer? – ‘Went On T’
‘Went On T’ is the latest single from New York trans-punk duo Um, Jennifer? It’s another refreshing blend of the band’s quirky humour and personal reflections on gender politics. Speaking about the track, the band explain: “‘Went On T’ is the indie rock anthem calling you back home to yourself. It’s about taking your own body back from those that claim to love you. It’s a reminder not to take on anybody else’s shit.” (KC)

Fightmilk -‘No Souvenirs’
To say I’m excited about the new album from total faves and all round great humans Fightmilk may be an understatement. Set for release on 15th November via Fika Recordings / INH Records, it’s been three years in the making and promises to showcase how the band are consistently evolving their unique sound. To celebrate the album announcement, the band have now shared its title track, ‘No Souvenirs’. A beautifully poignant reflection on loss, it oozes an anthemic raw emotion and exquisite shimmering splendour. Losing a friend to suicide just over a decade ago, it’s taken songwriter Lily until now to be able to put her feelings into words: “It’s finally exactly what I wanted to say, and I think he’d have thought my band sucked, but that’s alright.” Pre-order No Souvenirs here, and book tickets to the launch show at Paper Dress Vintage here. Jemma Freeman – ‘Hoping For A Miracle’
An unexpected new single from immense songwriter and performer Jemma Freeman, ‘Hoping For A Miracle’ was written, recorded and mixed in their bedroom, causing them to be apprehensive about sharing it with the world. But we’re so glad they did! “The queer, sad, banger you need to blast through any unexpected summer break up.”, it’s propelled by fuzzy hooks as the raw, gritty power of Jem’s distinctive vocals soar. A fizzing psych-rock anthem showcasing their ability to weave together a rich musicality with their trademark frenzied energy. ‘Hoping For A Miracle’ is the b-side to fellow surprise, and beautifully vulnerable, single ‘Alien’. Pretty Bitter – ‘Never Better’
Washington D.C based indie-pop group Pretty Bitter teamed up with fellow indie rockers Flowerbomb to release a split EP, titled Take Me Out, at the beginning of August. ‘Never Better’ is the opening track on the record and it’s buoyant mix of indie guitar twangs, catchy melodies and bittersweet vocals. Soccer Mommy – ‘M’
Nashville indie artist Sophie Allison aka Soccer Mommy is back with this lush single and news about her upcoming album, Evergreen. Set for release on 25th October via Loma Vista, Allison has used her innately raw songwriting techniques to move through the lingering effects of deep personal loss that affected her before she began writing this new record. Emily Wurramara – ‘STFAFM’
Having just released her new album Nara – a celebration of rebirth -, multi-award-winning lutruwita/Tasmania-based artist, activist, author and proud Warnindhilyagwa woman Emily Wurramara has now shared new single ‘STFAFM’ (stay the fuck away from me!). Propelled by her lush, soulful vocals, it offers a fiercely empowering energy; an uplifting ode to finding inner peace and motivation. (ML)

Joanna Sternberg – ‘A Country Dance’
One of my most listened-to artists of the last couple of years, Brooklyn artist Joanna Sternberg has now shared a stirring new stand-alone single. Featured in upcoming film, Between The Temples, ‘A Country Dance’ was inspired by Joanna’s close friend Sami Bronowski, who was the first person to encourage Joanna to sing in public. Showcasing the exquisite vulnerability and raw emotion of their vocals, it flows with beautifully lilting melodies, shimmering with an uplifting, heartfelt grace. (ML)

Rubie – ‘Death By Catgirl’
Following her beautifully heartfelt last single, ‘To Change’, GIHE fave Rubie has now shared ‘Death By Catgirl’ – written from the perspective of a “hot, on the rise trans woman microcelebrity, throwing off her furs and meaning business”, it’s propelled by a colourful funk-fused groove as swirling, jazz-tinged melodies ripple alongside the majestic captivating allure of Rubie’s distinctive vocals. ‘Death By Catgirl’ is taken from Rubie’s upcoming second album, Seek Sisters, which is due out on 22nd September via Pressing Up Club. (ML)

Husk – ‘Open Waters’
Very different in sound from what we might remember of Husk’s previous releases, this new single sees the Manchester based artist experiment with traditional Irish folk music, adding their own distinctive queer electronic edge. Reflecting on their first experience of swimming in the Irish sea with a sparkling energy, and switching between English and Gaelic throughout the track, they explain: “There’s some things that I needed to say, but English couldn’t do it justice, so I switch between the two; it’s a creative choice… I’m saying that the whole world is with us in that moment, a whole world was connected to us through the water. And, with, sea swimming, it’s so cold that you can only think about your fundamental instincts, and it felt elemental.” (ML)

Gossip – ‘Move In The Right Direction’
Finally getting to see Gossip at All Points East last week really did exceed all expectations. The empowering energy and fiercely immersive charisma of Beth Ditto is unmatched, and it was an experience filled with tonnes of queer joy and overwhelming emotion. “I’ll hold back tears / Move in the right direction / Face my fears / Move in the right direction” – and hearing this song live just hit particularly hard. Human Interest – ‘Step On’
Following the success of previous singles ‘Mixing Paint’ and ‘Cool Cats’, and with recent acclaim from the likes of Steve LaMacq on BBC 6Music, East-London band Human Interest have now announced the release of an upcoming EP later this year. Combining a fierce post-punk drive with a fuzzy, lilting energy, lead single ‘Step On’ reflects on “appreciating the duality of yourself and your friends” and builds with an anthemic power to a swirling slice of infectious indie-pop. ‘Step On’ is out now via Nice Swan records.

CLT DRP – ‘I See My Body Through You’
Following on from their incendiary anthems ‘New Boy‘ and ‘Nothing Clever, Just Feelings‘, this is the latest banger from Brighton feminist electro-punks CLT DRP. Taken from their upcoming second album, Nothing Clever, Just Feelings, which is set for release on 8th September via Venn Records, the track is a dynamic, corrosive rumination on objectification and how it can affect our own identity and self worth. By combining quieter verses with a blistering chorus, CLT DRP reflect the tumultuous emotions and lack of control that can come from feeling exposed and viewed through a skewed and restricting lens.

Chroma – ‘Don’t Wanna Go Out’
Having just announced the release of their debut album, and with news of an exciting support slot with (my most watched band in the world) Foo Fighters next year, Welsh band Chroma are definite ones to watch right now, and so we couldn’t be more thrilled that they’ll be headlining our night at Shacklewell Arms next Friday! (8th September). To celebrate the news, they’ve shared ‘Don’t Wanna Go Out’, a fierce new single reflecting on feelings of FOMO and propelled by the band’s distinctive raw, relentless energy. An instant earworm that I can’t wait for East London to mosh along to very soon! Ask For Angela, the debut album from Chroma, is set for release on 20th October via Alcopop! Records. Nab tickets to see them live on 8th September along with wormboys and UrgentSea here. (ML)

Duvet – ‘Girlcow’
‘Girlcow’ is the latest single from Manchester post punks Duvet, who are gearing up to to release their split 7″ ‘Girlcow/Sweaty Dog’ on 29th September via Fear of Missing Out Records. I love their sleazy, chaotic sound on this track, which the band say is “a bit of fictional story telling about a confident cowboy pursuing a play girl bunny type character,” explored from both perspectives. Gender Chores – ‘Dysphurious’
A reflection on coming out as non-binary – a subject that’s very close to Northern Irish punks Gender Chores’ hearts – ‘Dysphurious’ offers a truly uplifting dose of punk-pop, oozing a fierce colourful spirit. Filled with scuzzy hooks and a refreshingly honest lyricism, it’s an empowering ode to freeing yourself from the constrictions of conventional gender ‘norms’; an energising boost of confidence to be your true self in the face of adversity. Femegades – ‘Depleted’
Following their debut EP Pornsick and last year’s ironically entitled Not All Men, punk-rockers Femegades are back with a gloriously riotous new single. Reflecting on society’s expectation on women to be – and want to be – perfect, happy mothers, ‘Depleted’ rages with a snarling energy and fierce, raw power. (ML)

ALT BLK ERA – ‘Misfits: SOLAR’
Combining jagged electronics and racing beats with their raging lyrics, genre-defying sister duo ALT BLK ERA have created another alternative statement of self autonomy on ‘Misfits: SOLAR’. Taken from their upcoming EP, Freak Show, which is set for release on 1st September, the track is a frenzied anthem fuelled by their antagonistic, youthful spirit. (KC)

The Dead Zoo – ‘Hoover Damned’
Having recently wowed us live at our last gig at Shacklewell Arms in July, London-based The Dead Zoo have now shared an uplifting new single. Propelled by a scuzzy energy reminiscent of brit-pop bands of the ‘90s, ‘Hoover Damned’ oozes catchy hooks and swirling harmonies, accompanying the sultry allure of front woman Kaoru’s gritty vocals. Of the track, Kaoru explains: “I wanted to write about a world where women are as free to make mistakes and walk away as men traditionally have…” Produced by James Aparicio, ‘Hoover Damned’ is out now via Rock Noir Recordings. Deerhoof – ‘My Lovely Cat!’
Following the release of their 19th album earlier this year, I was lucky enough to experience the utter magic of legendary avant-garde sound creators Deerhoof last week. And when I say ‘magic’, I’m not exaggerating… The pure immense cacophonies they’re able to create are a spectacle to behold; their frenzied colourful energy like nothing I’ve ever seen. ‘My Lovely Cat!’ is probably my favourite track taken from the latest album (which is sung entirely in Satomi’s native Japanese), not only because of its cute, relatable title, but I just love its swirling sonic brilliance and joyous drive. Miracle Level, the latest album from Deerhoof, is out now via Joyful Noise. (ML)

HAVVK – ‘Expiry’
The new single from Irish based trio, and GIHE faves, HAVVK, ‘Expiry’ channels a seething raging energy, ‘Expiry’ reflects on society’s expectations of women to ‘age gracefully’, whilst giving a middle finger to these restrictions on how you should dress or behave. I just love how its fierce sense of urgency is propelled by the raw power of lead singer Julie’s distinctive celestial vocals. (ML)

Shaene – ‘june’
This melancholy song from Leeds-based songwriter shaene is lifted from her self-produced debut album, time lost / time regained, which is set for release on 1st September. The track is a reflection on her fluctuating relationship with their Dad, which she is reminded of on Father’s Day each year during June. As with her previous single ‘sad’, shaene filters these conflicting feelings through a soft, shoegazey lens, which makes for sad-yet-sweet listening. (KC)

GENN – ‘Calypso’
GIHE favourites GENN are gearing up to release their debut album, unum, on the 6th October, and this track ‘Calypso’ is lifted from it. The track showcases the truly versatile sound of the Brighton-via-Malta art-punk quartet, who totally blew us away with their live performances at The Great Escape Festival earlier this year. (KC)

Ideal Host – ‘The Resolution’
A tender, synth-led rumination that showcases the evolving nature of their sound, this is the third single from Ideal Host. Led by Heather Perkins and Sean Hughes – who are both former members of the band Slowcoaches – Ideal Host are dedicated to making music on their own terms. ‘The Resolution’ acts as a bookend to the band’s previous single ‘The Conflict‘, exploring the softer side of their brooding, intuitive songwriting. Ideal Host are currently writing and recording their full length album, which they plan to release and tour next year. (KC)

O Hell – ‘hard times’
The chorus to this O Hell track hit me right in sternum. Her direct lyrics, clear vocals and evocative electronics make for captivating listening. Speaking about ‘hard times’, O Hell explains: “What I wanted to say in the chorus is: get back to what love really is, ‘cus it’s way bigger and better than the bullshit possessiveness we’re told it needs to centre around. It might change state, it might morph between romantic and platonic, or everything in between – but fuck all the drama off, if you love someone, let that love take its course. It was always bigger than the first label you smacked on it anyway.” (KC)

Hinako Omori – ‘cyanotype memories’
A mood-lifting soundscape that offers listeners a moment of respite in an uncertain world, I love this single from London-based artist and composer Hinako Omori. Taken from her upcoming album, stillness, softness…, which is set for release via Houndstooth on 27th October, the track is an ode to surrendering yourself to the unknown and finding peace within that process. Mint Field – ‘El Suspiro Cambia Todo’
Having just announced the release of their upcoming new album, Mexican psych duo Mint Field have now shared a dreamy new single. Flowing with a whirring, hypnotic grace, ‘El Suspiro Cambia Todo’ (The Sigh Changes Everything) offers a spellbinding soundscape, enchanting the ears with its glistening splendour. Of the track, the band explain: “Sighing is the desire for melancholy. It denotes that something is happening. Sometimes we just need to sigh to let go. Sighing is something we do unconsciously but it says a lot about what is going on inside our mind.” Aprender a Ser, the upcoming new album from Mint Field, is set for release on 27th October via felte. (ML)

Amaroun – ‘Dopamine’
Taken from her upcoming EP of the same name, which is set for release on 29th September, ‘Dopamine’ is the latest single from ‘GIHE favourite Amaroun. Inspired by “the minuscule euphoric moments that keep her ADHD brain hooked throughout the day,” this track oozes with Amroun’s trademark alt-pop style. (KC)

CHIKA ft. Charlie Wilson – ‘Can’t Explain It’
I’m a bit late to the party, but recently loved watching ‘Ladies First’, a short (not long enough!) docu-series on Netflix about and by women in hip-hop. As well as featuring a number of artists I already know and love – such as the legendary Queen Latifah and contemporary rappers Rapsody and Tierrra Whack – it also introduced me to a few that I’d not come across before. One of these was Alabama-born MC/rapper CHIKA, who spoke at length about her position as a queer woman in the industry. I just love her driving energy, gritty allure and refreshingly honest lyricism, and urge you to check out this celebration of queer black love, as well as her epic recent album Samson. (ML)

Mykki Blanco – ‘Holidays In The Sun’
I can’t get enough of the funk-fuelled energy and infectious uplifting spirit of the new single from pioneering artist Mykki Blanco. “A feel good summer anthem about lazy summer days swimming in the sea, hopping from one music festival to the next, feeling good about life and living la dolce vita soaking up the sun.”, its only negative is that it does make me quite desperate for a holiday in the sun myself… Mykki Blanco’s upcoming new album, Postcards from Italia, is set for release on 22nd September via Transgressive, and keep your eyes peeled for an exclusive interview with them on our website very soon! Aderyn – ‘Distraction’
Reflecting on the restlessness one can feel during the summer break, ‘Distraction’ is the latest single from South Wales artist Aderyn. Propelled by shimmering hooks and a driving punk-pop energy, it showcases Aderyn’s honey-sweet vocals and ability to create instantly catchy, emotion-rich singalong anthems. Aderyn’s debut EP, Sea Glass, is set for release on 14th September. (ML)

Catherine Moan – ‘Jawbreaker’
Angel Jefferson aka Catherine Moan is back with this new single which marks a “new era” of her electro-pop project. ‘Jawbreaker’ is written from the point of view of “someone who feels replaceable, hard to love, and ultimately feels damaged by another’s actions” – all underscored by buoyant 80s-inspired synths and Catherine’s bittersweet vocal. SOFT LAD – ‘The Human Condition’
“This song came as a result of the worst hangover of my life!” explains Sophie Galpin aka SOFT LAD about this single – respect to her for telling it like it is! The multi-instrumentalist, who also plays in Self Esteem’s band, encourages her listeners to treat those closest to us with kindness; all underscored by her buoyant beats, melodic riffs and clear vocals. Cutty – ‘Overdrive’
This is the latest single from Hull-based duo Cutty, who formed after meeting at their local dive bar. Amy and Kev explain that ‘Overdrive’ is a crowd-pleasing favourite when they play it live at local gigs, so it made sense to record it and share it for everyone else to hear too. (KC)

Sirene – ‘Don’t Let Me Fall (Out Your Mind)’
With acclaim from the likes of Deb Grant on BBC 6Music, Yorkshire-born, London-based artist Sirene released her debut album last year, and has now shared a poignant new single. Reflecting on the desire to consistently do your best for the ones you love, ‘Don’t Let Me Fall (Out Your Mind)’ is a beautifully stirring ballad, showcasing Sirene’s distinctive rich vocals and an exquisite twinkling emotion. Halina Rice – ‘Helix’
What do I love more than dreamy songs full of feelings? Obscure electronica! This track is a big slice of it. It comes from London-based artist Halina Rice, who has announced a new album, Elision, which is set for release on 30th September. This track ‘Helix’ fuses natural and analog sounds together in order to evoke a place that don’t exist – a parallel world. LOVE IT. (Tash Walker)

Nameless Twin – ‘My Eyes Went Black’
I’m obsessed with this debut single from industrial/electronic duo Nameless Twin, aka Alicia Rei Kim and Ryan Osterman. It’s shadowy, heavy, but delicate in places too. Osterman is also in a band called Holy Fawn, who I’m going to see live at the end of September. ‘My Eyes Went Black’ is available to download for free on bandcamp now. (Kate Crudgington)

Obli – ‘Hei’
This is my absolute favourite song at the moment, no words will do it justice! Just please kick back and bathe in its beauty. (TW)

Connie Constance – ‘Till The World’s Awake’
An indie-dance track of her dreams, I feel ya Connie! This is taken from her new album, Miss Power, which is due on 4th November. ‘English Rose’ has still got to be one of my fave songs of 2019. (TW)

adults – ‘things we achieve’
Having charmed us playing live at our sold gig at Sebright Arms last month celebrating/comiserating Charmpit’s last ever London show, South London band adults are fast becoming firm favourites. With this latest single, they reflect on the pressures of living in a capitalist society with their trademark irresistibly blissful, catchy musicality and fuzzy, frenetic drive, with shades of the joyous, danceable allure of Los Campesinos. for everything, always, the upcoming debut album from adults is out in October via Fika Recordings. Big Joanie – ‘In My Arms’
Is it even a GIHE playlist if we don’t include a Big Joanie track? This is the latest single from the trio, taken from their upcoming second album, Back Home, which is set for release on 4th November via Daydream Library Series/Kill Rock Stars. I can’t wait to hear the record in full. (KC)

BRUTUS – ‘Liar’
The latest single from Belgian heavy trio Brutus. Taken from their upcoming third album Unison Life, which is set for release on 21st October via Hassle Records/Sargent House, ‘Liar’ is a heavy lament that criticises the lies we tell ourselves in order to keep a false sense of calm. I’ve been stomping around to this all month. (KC)

Scrounge – ‘HIT’
GIHE favourites Scrounge are back with this belter of a new single, taken from their upcoming debut mini album Sugar, Daddy, which is set for release on 9th September. We’re big fans of everything that Lucy & Luke create and I reckon Mari would book them for every GIHE gig if she could, but you can catch them playing live in East London at Dream Bags Jaguar Shoes on 7th September. The Dead Zoo – ‘Do Clean / Do Dirrrty’
London garage-rockers The Dead Zoo have returned with this gritty new single. Speaking about the track, the band explain: “it’s about seeking that unknown place where you can find yourself…this paints a visceral sense of hitting the road, living outside of the law.” (KC)

Deux Furieuses – ‘Know The Score’

The latest single from Electric Pets, ‘That Way’ is a perfectly scuzzy anthem of self love; a two fingers up to society’s expectations of what we should be. Showcasing Emma Buckley’s raw, impassioned vocals, it builds with a fierce emotion to a catchy slice of garage-infused rock. (ML)

Miss Kill – ‘All You Gotta Do’
The latest single from alternative duo Miss Kill, taken from their debut EP Don’t Tell Me Twice, which is set for release on September 16th via AWAL. Described as a song about “feeling completely intoxicated, vulnerable and needing someone to to care, but they are refusing to,” ‘All You Gotta Do’ is full of bittersweet vocals and heavy reverb, reflecting the clouded head space that inspired it. A.A. Williams – ‘Golden’
Another superb single from multi-instrumentalist A.A. Williams here. Taken from her upcoming second album, As The Moon Rests, which is set for release on 7th October via Bella Union, ‘Golden’ is full of her haunting vocals and shadowy sounds. (KC)

Beckie Margaret – ‘Untitled’
I am in love with Essex songwriter Beckie Margaret’s recent EP, CIAGA, Vol. 1. Released via Cool Thing Records, it’s an intuitive, tender collection of songs that genuinely had me in tears when I was writing the review. Beckie’s voice and affecting lyrics dismantle me every time. Please, please do check her out. This track ‘Untitled’ is my favourite. (KC)

Victoria Canal – ‘Swan Song’
The latest release from Victoria Canal, a Munich born, Spanish American who is proud of her identity as a queer, disabled, mixed-heritage woman. ‘Swan Song’ is a haunting and personal piano ballad, taken from her upcoming EP Elegy, which is set for release on 16th September via Parlophone Records. Gemma Laurence – ‘Lavender’
The latest single from Brooklyn-based “Sapphic folk” artist Gemma Laurence, ‘Lavender’ is an empowering anthem for the queer community. Flowing with lilting melodies and heartfelt lyrics, it showcases the raw emotion Laurence’s vocals with a stirring, shimmering grace. Lavender, the new album from Gemma Laurence, is out on 4th November via Better Company Records. (ML)

Ailbhe Reddy – ‘Shoulder Blades’
Previous guest on our Soho Radio show Ailbhe Reddy has shared this poignant new single. Her skill for capturing a moment – in this case the unique way the light defines her partner’s body – makes listening to her music such a bittersweet pleasure. (KC)

Seraphina Simone – ‘Milk Teeth’
GIHE fave Seraphina Simone – who for the beady eyed among you, may have seen her singing backing vocals and being part of Self Esteem’s dance troupe over the last year or so. This track is taken from Seraphina’s recently released EP of the same name, and of course we are huge fans. Seraphina will be joining us in the Soho Radio studio for our October show! (TW)

Hypsoline – ‘Space Babe’
I’ve only recently been introduced to Brighton band Hypsoline, but I just can’t get enough of this track’s gritty hooks and swirling, electro-tinged energy – all delivered with an immersive, scuzzy allure. And I cannot wait for Hypsoline to play live for us, supporting Currls at their London EP launch at The Shacklewell Arms on 1st December – get your tickets on DICE now! (ML)

Jadu Heart – ‘Cocoon’
The latest release from electronic duo Jadu Heart otherwise, known as Alex Headford and Diva Jeffrey. It’s been almost two years since they recorded their last record Hyper Romance. This latest single is dreamy stuff. (TW)

Jemima Coulter – ‘Dancing With Lara’
Having recently released their debut solo album, Grace After A Party, Bristol-based artist Jemima Coulter creates beautifully heartfelt folk-strewn offerings. I just love this track’s shimmering musicality and raw, heartfelt vocals; a stirring, emotion-rich dreamscape which reminds me of dancing with my wonderful flower person Lara at my wedding. (ML)

Wallis Bird – ‘I Lose Myself Completely’
Following the acclaim of 2019’s poignant Woman, Irish born/Berlin based artist Wallis Bird has now released her seventh studio album, Hands. Showcasing Bird’s unique, vibrant brand of alt-pop – combining fizzing ’80s-inspired blissful soundscapes with an empowering energy and stirring sentiment – it reflects heartfelt and resonant themes with a raw emotion, delivered through an uplifting, cinematic musicality. Mega – ‘If Not My Heart’
Having received acclaim from the likes of BBC Radio 1, NME and The Independent, London-based artist Mega has recently released her new EP Colour Your World. Combining her influence of legends such as Amy Winehouse, Aretha Franklin and Nina Simone with inspiration from her Ugandan heritage, she creates instantly uplifting anthems oozing an exquisite heartfelt splendour. Lande Hekt – ‘Backstreet Snow’
Though you may also know her from her band Muncie Girls, Lande Hekt’s debut solo album, Going To Hell, was one of my favourites of last year. Back with sparkling new single ‘Backstreet Snow’, she showcases her luscious vocals alongside perfectly jangly melodies and a heartfelt lyricism, creating stirring, emotion-strewn indie-folk. Lande Hekt’s second album, House Without A View, is set for release on 23rd September. (ML)

Sophie Jamieson – ‘Sink’
Sophie Jamieson, the new Bella Union signing who is set to release her album Choosing on 2nd December. ‘Sink’ is the lead single from the record, and Sophie is currently on tour across the UK check out her socials for those dates. (TW)
