LISTEN: Kraków Loves Adana – ‘Follow The Voice’

Sharp percussion, hazy guitar sounds and longing vocals mesh together in moody style on ‘Follow The Voice’, the latest single from Hamburg-based duo Kraków Loves Adana. Formed of Deniz Çiçek and her partner Robert Heitmann, the pair have recently signed to iconic label Italians Do It Better (Chromatics, Desire, Glass Candy).

With a sound that would sit comfortably on the soundtrack for Drive, ‘Follow The Voice’ brims with hypnotizing synth textures and melancholic lyrics. The track is accompanied by a self-directed video which the duo filmed in Hamburg. The visuals show Deniz falling under the spell of her own voice, draped in colourful veils and flashing lights.

Kraków Loves Adana formed in 2006 after eyeing each other for months at the same nightclubs in Germany. Now, with the production skills of Johnny Jewel, the duo are set to share their debut album in early 2020, as well as supporting Chromatics & Desire on stage for the European leg of their “Double Exposure” world tour.

Track Of The Day: Shari Vari – ‘New York City’

Brooding electronics and moody vocals fuse together on Shari Vari‘s new single ‘New York’, capturing the atmosphere of one of America’s most iconic cities. The track is taken from their new album NOW, recently released via cult label Malka Tuti.

Formed of of Helena Ratka and Sophia Kennedy, the Hamburg-based alt-electronic duo blend elements of performance art, techno, house, pop and jazz to create their dense electronic beats. Speaking about their upcoming album, the band explain:

“Time is ticking and the questions we have regarding time and action is the connecting element of the songs and tracks on NOW. There is mostly a dark connotation in [the] music and lyrics, but not without a joyful outlook, fun twists and a breeze of irony. NOW connects the individual with the social persona, while the tracks take you on a trip from the boiler room next to our studio to a chilly sunday in the park. It’s more a stream of consciousness than a conceptual decision we made”.

Track Of The Day: Shari Vari – ‘Out Of Order’

Multi-talented artists and producers Shari Vari have shared their latest single ‘Out Of Order’ and it’s an alt-electronic gem. The Hamburg-based duo blend elements of techno, jazz, pop and their clear cut vocals to create a catchy three and a half minutes of electro-punk joy.

Shari Vari consists of Helena Ratka and Sophia Kennedy. Both are visual artists, producers and musicians who began working together after a joint art exhibition, releasing their debut EP Life Should Be A Holiday in 2017. The duo are currently preparing to share their debut album NOW via cult label Malka Tuti on 13th September.

Speaking about the new tracks on their upcoming record, the duo explain: “Time is ticking and the questions we have regarding time and action [are] the connecting element of the songs and tracks on the album. There is mostly a dark connotation in music and lyrics, but not without a joyful outlook, fun twists and a breeze of irony. The lyrics oscillate between film-like atmospheres, comic and dark story-telling, involving fictional characters. NOW connects the individual with the social persona, while the tracks take you on a trip from the boiler room next to our studio, to a chilly Sunday in the park. It’s more a stream of consciousness than a conceptual decision we made”.
