LISTEN: GIHE on Soho Radio with Breakup Haircut (13.11.25)

Tash and Kate were back in the Soho Radio studio, bringing listeners their usual eclectic mix of new music tunes from some of their favourite female, non-binary and LGBTQIA+ artists. Mari offered some of her “musical musings” too!

Tash played tracks by trans artists who are much loved by GIHE to mark the upcoming Transgender Day of Remembrance (20th November) and Kate paid homage to Daphne Oram, a pioneer of electronic music. Oram’s centenary is currently being celebrated with performances across the UK on the oram/100 tour, a stunning compilation album titled vari/ations – Ode To Oram, and a special show at The Barbican on 4th December.

London-based DIY pop punk heroes Breakup Haircut also joined the team live in the studio to talk about their second album, No Worries If Not! – due on 28th November via INH Records. Ishani, Ripley and Jordan spoke about the friendship, humour and sheer determination that inspired the writing and recording process (R.I.P to the dead bird in Jordan’s shed/studio). Plus, they shared words of wisdom about how to survive as a DIY band in today’s chaotic world. Grab a ticket to Breakup Haircut’s album launch show at The Victoria in Dalston, East London, here. THWACK! and Jemma Freeman and the Cosmic Something are also on the bill!

Tash, Kate and Mari were all back in the Soho Radio studio together, bringing listeners their usual eclectic mix of new music tunes from some of their favourite female, non-binary and LGBTQIA+ artists. They were also joined by London-based electronic musician and producer Emma Hall aka Blue Loop to talk about her upcoming debut album, Cycles.

Set for release on 7th November, Cycles is a deeply personal work for Emma, inspired by her experiences of being diagnosed with and undergoing treatment for breast cancer – for which she is now in remission. Emma spoke candidly about the context and inspiration behind specific tracks, the people she collaborated with on the record, and shared her excitement for the listening event and Q&A session she’ll be hosting on Saturday 8th November at The Cavendish Arms in Stockwell, South London, to help celebrate the release. LISTEN: GIHE on Soho Radio with Jessica Winter (24.07.25)

Tash and Kate were back in the Soho Radio studio bringing listeners their usual eclectic mix of new music tunes from some of their favourite female, non-binary and LGBTQIA+ artists. Mari offered the team some of her “musical musings” too!

They were joined by London-based pop darling Jessica Winter, who spoke about her debut full length release, My First Album, her upcoming UK tour dates in October (including a London headline show at The Lower Third in Soho on 28th October) and the inspirations behind all of her wonderful alt-pop creations. She also spoke candidly about the hard earned patience and resilience she’s developed during the process of creating an album that feels true to her authentic self.

Towards the end of the show, the team shared a special track by genre-fluid non-binary artist Naafi, who contributed to The Sound Of Trans Freedom audio project, produced by Aunt Nell aka our very own Tash Walker!

The piece follows the journey of four trans sound-artists into the archive of Press for Change, a formative lobbying group that brought about the Gender Recognition Act. Tash asked the sound artists to use their imaginations to bring to life letters from trans people who wrote to Press for Change in the 90s and early 00s. journey of four trans sound artists into the archive of Press for Change, a formative lobbying group that brought about the Gender Recognition Act. Tash asked the sound artists to use their imaginations to bring to life letters from trans people who wrote to Press for Change in the 90s and early 00s.

As Tash explains: “The piece looks back into our trans histories whilst holding space for what we are fighting for when it comes to trans rights today, a world that should hold space for trans people to not just survive but thrive.”
