Track Of The Day: Vulpynes – ‘Sublingual’

Following the success of storming singles ‘OCD’, ‘Silica’ and ‘Terry Said’, Dublin duo Vulpynes are now ready to release their debut EP.

Taken from the EP is the wonderfully riotous new single ‘Sublingual’. Blasting into your ears from the first second with raging riffs and thrashing beats, impassioned vocals soar with a raw, gritty energy, creating an immense, high-octane wall of sound.

Once again showcasing Vulpynes’ knack for creating instantly infectious and intensely powerful slices of grunge-fuelled garage rock, ‘Sublingual’ marks the duo out as definite ones to watch in 2018.

‘Sublingual’ will be available on CD only, but watch the awesome new video here:

Vulpynes, the eponymous debut EP, is out 1st March via Headcheck Records.

Track Of The Day: Æ MAK – ‘Glow’

Full of “tribal rhythms, soaring synths and lush vocal harmonies,” Irish art pop artist Æ Mak has shared her latest single ‘Glow’. Described as “dance music with a bite,” the track smoulders with vibrant beats and ultra cool vocals.

Æ Mak has been showcasing her distinctive style on Ireland’s live circuit over the last year, supporting Warpaint in Dublin and performing at a number of acclaimed Irish festivals such as Other Voices and Electric Picnic. 2018 looks like another promising year for her, as she’s been confirmed to play Latitude and she’s been chosen to be part of PRS Foundation’s ReBalance programme, which was introduced to help tackle gender inequality on festival lineups in the future.

Track Of The Day: Beauty Sleep – ‘The Feeling Back’

Littered with moments of galactic dream pop, Beauty Sleep’s new single ‘The Feeling Back’ longs for a past just out of reach.

With twisting bass-lines and groovy percussion, the trio’s instrumental would be apt on a glistening dancefloor. Twinklings of glittery keys permeate the track, making it sound like it would be best played on a still, warm summer’s evening.

‘The Feeling Back’ is led by its clever melody, with oscillating hooks and grooves swirling alongside front-woman Cheylene’s soft vocal, oozing a dreamy sense of wistfulness. Whether through the lullaby-like opening or the hazy soundscape of the track, the tangible nostalgia shines through.

Of the track, the band explain:

“It’s a little bit nostalgic for that youthful feeling – where everything is exciting and the world is your oyster, as we’re growing up that seems harder to come by.”

‘The Feeling Back’ will feature on Beauty Sleep’s debut album, released in September.

Track Of The Day: Mellow Gang – ‘Temps’

Following last year’s impressive debut EP Play, psych-pop four piece Mellow Gang have since received praise from the likes of BBC 6 Music, Clash and London In Stereo, and are now back to bewitch listeners with a brand new single.

Flowing with a sweeping ethereal haze and raw emotion, ‘Temps’ will have you hooked on first listen. Oozing a twinkling, psychedelic soundscape alongside the spellbinding power of Harriet Joseph’s rich, brooding vocals, it’s a truly captivating, and totally dreamy, wall of sound.

Of the track, the band explain:

” (it) centres on an emotional alternation between realising some relationships, being friends or romantic, were only supposed to be temporary, and the helpless limbo that comes with all of the inconsistency of trying to salvage anything out of desperation. Reflectively, yes it’s sad, as you become dependent, but also hopeful. There’s always aggression towards the end, but in calling it a day, it’s deciding whether to be kind, or just let that hot and cold frustration turn into a front you later regret.”

‘Temps’ is out 16th March. And you can catch Mellow Gang live on their upcoming tour:

7th March – The Sunflower Lounge, Birmingham
8th March – The Horn, St Albans
9th March – Modern Art, Oxford
10th March – Clwb Ifor Bach, Cardiff
14th March – The Waiting Room, London
15th March – Heartbreakers, Southampton
