Premiere: MeMe Detroit – ‘Ashes To Ashes’

Following her last racing single ‘How She Runs’, Midlands artist MeMe Detroit is back with a brand new single – her own homage to the legendary David Bowie.

Her rendition of ‘Ashes To Ashes’ flows with a whirring energy alongside reverb-strewn riffs and gritty, soulful vocals. A raw and impassioned take on the Bowie classic, it maintains all the power of the original whilst adding its own unique rousing sonic force.

Colour Me Wednesday Announce Album Preview Show

Queer Feminist pop-punk-rockers Colour Me Wednesday may have been away from the live circuit for a little while, but they’re back with their empowering, energy-fuelled offerings on 19th November for a special preview show of their second album.

Lots has happened since their 2013 début I Thought It Was Morning, and the new release will reflect upon the band’s collective experiences of being young queer adults and trying to get by day to day.

To celebrate the upcoming new record, they’ll be having an album showcase gig at DIY Space For London – playing new, never-before-played material alongside some old favourites. This is a one off show before they start recording the album, and the band’s only London headline show of 2017. And as if that wasn’t enough, everyone who buys a ticket will be able to pre-order the new album and merch before anyone else!

Colour Me Wednesday play DIY Space For London on 19th November with support from Get In Her Ears faves Charmpit, and queer punx Jellie Rolls!

No racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia or abelist behaviour will be tolerated at Colour Me Wednesday shows.

Advance tickets £6/7 or £8 OTD. Find out more at the Facebook event page, and find tickets and venue membership details here.

Track Of The Day: SEXTILE – ‘Ripped’

Having already gained a reputation in the LA underground scene over recent years, SEXTILE released their second album earlier this year, and have now shared a brand new video.

Racing with glitchy beats, ‘Ripped’ is filled with a relentless, raucous energy and whirring power. A delightful, frenzied cacophony, it’s a furious slice of disco-punk seething with an attention-grabbing pulsating tension. Of the track, the band’s Brady Keehn explains:

“Ripped is a youthful, yet destructive song and I wanted to convey that visually. Innocence and chaos. Kind of what we’re born into.”

WATCH: Noga Erez – ‘Balkada’

Following incredible singles such as ‘Dance While You Shoot’, Noga Erez has shared another supremely cool offering from her latest Off The Radar album.

With its glitchy, soaring energy, ‘Balkada’ is a truly captivating slice of alt-pop, oozing Erez’s trademark stunning, subtle power that’ll draw you in and leave you completely hooked. Inspired by the relationship between an artist and their audience, and the intimate bond that develops, Erez explains of the track:

“While the artist is presented as super-human or divine being and appears to be on the dominant side of the relationship, the opposite is actually true” explains Erez. “The idea of idolization and worship in their obsessive and blind form led us to the commonly used comparison between art and religion – between creativity and creation, and how the two can easily look the same and cross over.”

Watch Erez dance it out against the striking Tel Aviv skyline in the new video for ‘Balkada’ here:

Off The Radar, the latest album from Noga Erez, is out now.
