Video Premiere: MALMØ – ‘No Words’

Following 2018’s critically acclaimed debut album We Come From The Stars, and with acclaim from the likes of BBC 6Music and KEXP, Danish artist Maria Malmoe, aka MALMØ, has now shared her new single, ahead of her upcoming second album this summer.

Propelled by glitchy beats and Maria’s (and her her sister Frida’s) sweeping ethereal vocals, ‘No Words’ reflects on the damage we do to the environment on a daily basis – how we’re too reliant on the artificial, at a great cost to the natural world, and to ourselves. With an exquisite, captivating majesty, a shimmering, spellbinding soundscape is created. A beautifully poignant, and delicately cathartic, rumination on the world today and how we all need to take action to save it.

‘No Words’ is accompanied by a sparkling, artfully created new video. Watch it for the first time here:

The Inevitable End, the upcoming new album from MALMØ, is out on 11th June (vinyl & digital) via Integrity Records.

Video Premiere: MALMØ – ‘Farewell Roaring Ocean’

Following 2018’s critically acclaimed debut album We Come From The Stars and praise from the likes of BBC 6 Music and BBC London, Danish artist Maria Malmoe, aka MALMØ, is set to release her upcoming EP The Inevitable End, very soon. The EP consists of a prediction in four parts – each one representing a different way of the world collapsing if we don´t change our behaviour.

Now, MALMØ has shared an hypnotic new video for part three of the EP, ‘Farewell Roaring Ocean’. Oozing a swirling ethereal aura alongside Maria’s soaring celestial vocals, it brings to mind the quirky majesty of Björk as it builds with a twinkling emotion to a stirring alt-pop anthem. Addressing the world’s rising water levels, ‘Farewell Roaring Ocean’ captivates with a spellbinding grandeur and immersive musicality. Of the meaning behind the track, Maria explains:

“On a personal level, I’m saying goodbye to the part of me that seeks out turbulent or troubled ‘waters’, and welcoming the still, serene waters of simplicity and non-attachment to the material world… On a wider environmental scale, it’s about bidding farewell to the vast oceans as we know them. Despite water levels and water temperatures rising, we remain consumed by material desires and perceived needs – when we should be looking towards nature while there is still time.”

‘Farewell Roaring Ocean’ is out this Friday, 28th February via Integrity Records.

Video Premiere: MALMØ – ‘Bleed Me Dry’

Having received acclaim from the likes of BBC 6Music and Amazing Radio for last year’s debut album We Came From The Stars, Danish artist MALMØ has now announced her upcoming new EP, The Inevitable End.

Taken from the EP, new single ‘Bleed Me Dry’ is a reflection on society’s pre-conception of women who’ve suffered miscarriages as somehow ‘imperfect’. Propelled by whirring beats and Maria’s emotion-rich sultry vocals flowing along a stirring soundscape, it oozes a soaring celestial power. A poignant alt-pop anthem showcasing MALMØ’s ability to create innovative, musically layered offerings with a raw emotion.

Of the track, Maria explains:

We already worship external perfection; superficiality rules over substance. So when they perish inside us we stay quiet, ashamed that we couldn’t be the perfect female with perfect reproduction. But perfect on the outside hides chaos on the inside.”

Made in collaboration with Kasper Vindeløv (graphic designer) and Noemi Müller (videographer), watch the stirring new video for ‘Bleed Me Dry’ here:

‘Bleed Me Dry’ is out on Friday, 25th October.
