LISTEN: Stream Ghost Guilt’s debut ‘EP 1’

Durham “grunge-tinted fuzz pop” rockers Ghost Guilt have released their debut EP via Frux Tapes today, and we’re delighted to share their raucous new sounds with you. Inspired by the bands they saw performing around their hometown, front woman Cat Black wrote the EP alongside band mates Ellie, Stevo & Jonny to combat a turbulent few years battling intense anxiety and depression.

Fortunately, after speaking out and seeking professional help, Cat is back on track and ready to front Ghost Guilt alongside her supportive band mates. Thier debut EP hosts four tracks, all of which are taken from their first recording session with Neil Combstock at Rocking Horse Studios in Durham.

Speaking about the band and the new release, Cat says: “Ghost Guilt has been such a positive place for me, I never thought I would have the courage to stand up and scream everything out in front of people!”

Listen to Ghost Guilt’s debut EP below and follow the band on Facebook for more updates.

Track Listing:

1. Billy Liar
2. Creepy
3. Heavy Weather (social anxiety)
4. This Girl Can’t

Ghost Guilt will be playing with Bob Nastanovich from Pavement and Schwervon at Empty Shop in Durham on Monday 4th December.

LISTEN: GIRLI vs The Tuts – ‘Mr 10pm Bedtime (Remix)’

London’s GIRLI might be a ‘Hot Mess’, but she sure knows how to organise a cracking collaboration. She’s already worked with the Dream Wife girls who remixed her track ‘Not That Girl’ (and we spotted her dancing on stage at their sold out Scala gig) and now she’s teamed up with The Tuts to release an almighty reversion of ‘Mr 10pm Bedtime’.

The track is taken from her recent 4 track EP, Hot Mess, and The Tuts have hijacked the song and turned it into an up-beat, guitar laden, pop-punk banger. They’ve stayed true to the gutsy nature of the original recording, but it’s extra cool now The Tuts have got involved. Have a listen and see for yourself…

GIRLI’s Hot Mess EP is out now via PMR/Virgin EMI Records. Click here to buy your copy.

VIDEO PREMIERE: Saint Genevieve – ‘Lies’

In her latest single ‘Lies’, Saint Genevieve chronicles the search for light in darkness after the end of a toxic relationship. Inspired by great artists, both in paint and in music, Saint Genevieve’s music places her emotions on a melodic canvas, combining dominating vocals with crisp production to gift listeners with an audible artwork.

This movement from light to darkness is represented by the haunting echoes at the beginning of the song, as well as resonant guitar twangs that create an inescapable sense of anxiety, with the sentiment of relief depicted by the sunset at the finale of the ‘Lies’ official video.

Saint Genevieve does not seek to imitate other artists and with training that stretches from classical to jazz, she mixes the finest of global music to create her own unique sound. Watch the video for ‘Lies’ below, and follow Saint Genevieve on Facebook for more updates.
