Track Of The Day: Scrounge – ‘Etch’

One of our favourite duos around at the moment, Lucy and Luke – aka Scrounge – met at Goldsmiths and are now based in South London creating totally unique, immense genre-blending post punk anthems. Having played for us a couple of times now, their live show is truly breathtaking, unlike anything else I’ve seen or heard before. And so, it was with excitement that we heard they have brand new single out…

Both edgy and itchy, the appropriately named ‘Etch’ is a short, but very sweet, blast of perfect scuzz-filled post-punk. A track that will indeed remain etched on your ears, demanding multiple listens, it’s propelled by Luke’s thrashing beats as Lucy’s colossal vocals rage alongside whirring hooks with a gritty sense of urgency. Oozing the duo’s epic, swirling wall of sound, with ‘Etch’ Scrounge have blown me away once again, marking themselves out as definite ones to watch.

‘Etch’ is out now via Fierce Panda Records. And you can catch Scrounge live at the following dates:

30th October – The Lexington, London (supporting Hater)
29th November – The Social, London
